Worship

Psalm 103:1,21-22: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, all his hosts, his ministers that do his will. Bless the LORD, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul.

Luke 10.27: He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”

Worship forms the core of the Christian experience, its alpha and omega. The psalmist proclaimed, “all that is within me, bless his holy name,” and the members of Evergreen seek to praise, honor, and please God, as Jesus taught, with all our hearts, souls, and minds. Led by pastors, elders, musicians, and “the priesthood of believers” of all ages, worship creates and encourages moments of meaning within each service, points of connection with the holy and with our sisters and brothers in Christ.

In the sanctuary each Sunday, the Evergreen family gathers to confess our need for God, to listen for the Living Word, and to gain wisdom and strength for the challenges of following Jesus. As we sing, pray, and learn together, we nurture the ties that bind us into a faith community. Each member contributes time and talents, shares joys and concerns, and encounters the Holy Spirit through the sounds and silences of Sunday morning worship and special services during Holy Week and Advent. Those sacred moments at Evergreen enable us to continue to praise God with all that is within us — every day,  in every place, and with other faithful people seeking life-changing relationships with the Creator and with each other.
